What is CSV
- CSV is a simple file format used to store tabular data, such as a spreadsheet or database.
- Files in the CSV format can be imported to and exported from programs that store data in tables, such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc.
- CSV stands for "comma-separated values".
How to create a CSV file
- We can export and import the csv file from excel sheet or database to notepad or any text editors and vice versa.
- Now we will see how to import the file from the notepad to the microsoft Excel sheet.
Step1: Open the notepad and enter the text which should be imported to the excel sheet by separating with commas.
Step2: After entering the click on the file and saveas and save the file with the .csv extension.
Step3: Now that the file is saved and by double clicking on it, we can open the file in the Microsoft excel sheet.
Now we will see how to export the excel sheet file to the notepad by the comma separated text.
Step1: Open the Microsoft excel sheet file and enter the values in the tabular format.
Step2: After entering the details click on the file and go to saveas and save the file by giving file type as CSV(comma delimited).
Step3: Now we can open the file in any text viewer and also we can make changes in it.
